The meeting was held on April 12th, 2018 at Hotel Media Jakarta and was attended by the Indonesian Ambassador to Tanzania, staff of the Indonesian Embassy in Tanzania, Tanzanian Ambassador to Malaysia, PT Freyabadi Indotama, PT Sekawan Karsa Mulia, PT Bumitangerang Mesindotama. The purpose of the meeting was a discussion in order to improve the economic cooperation relationship between Tanzania and Indonesia, especially in the field of cocoa and chocolate.
– The Indonesian Ambassador to Tanzania said among others:
– In 2017 the trade balance between Indonesia and Tanzania was a surplus of ± 60%.
– Indonesia’s largest exports to Tanzania are palm oil, machinery, paper, insecticides, clothing and no chocolate or processed cocoa products.
– He conveyed that there are Italian investors who invite Indonesian investors to join in the form of a consortium to invest in semi-finished cocoa production from upstream to downstream. The cocoa plantation is in Congo and the processing industry is in Tanzania.
– Besides offering the investment cooperation, the Ambassador also invited the cocoa and chocolate industry to export processed cocoa and chocolate products to East Africa. Because until now there has been no Indonesian chocolate exported to Tanzania and in Tanzania there are many chocolate products from Europe.
– Invited cocoa and chocolate businesses to participate in the “Saba” exhibition to be held in Tanzania in October 2018. The exhibition will showcase a wide range of products from Indonesia.
