The commemoration of Indonesian Cocoa Day 2017 or the 6th Indonesian Cocoa Day was held on September 5 – 8th, 2017 at the Ministry of Industry Plaza Jakarta, with the theme “Working Together to Build Indonesian Cocoa and Chocolate” and was opened by the Minister of Industry Mr. Airlangga Hartarto. In his remarks, the Minister of Industry, among others, said that the cocoa processing industry has an important role in improving the national economy. The government has established the National Industrial Development Master Plan (RIPIN) 2015 – 2035, the cocoa processing industry is one of the priority industries that must be developed. The downstream development of the cocoa processing industry is directed to produce cocoa powder, cocoa butter, cocoa-based food and beverages, cocoa-based supplements and functional foods, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals.
The commemoration of Indonesian Cocoa Day is held annually and will encourage all parties to promote Indonesian cocoa, improve quality, competitiveness and increase consumption of Indonesian chocolate. The commemoration of Indonesian Cocoa Day was filled with cocoa and chocolate exhibitions attended by 44 (forty four) exhibitors consisting of cocoa and chocolate processing industries both large and small and medium industries and the Cocoa Forum.
