21st National Focal Point Meeting of ASEAN Cocoa Club (ACC)

The 21th Meeting of the National Focal point for the ASEAN Cocoa Club (ACC) on ASEAN Cocopetration and Joint Approaches in Agriculture and Forest Products Promotion Scheme tah took place from April 24-27th, 2018 in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam. The representative of the Indonesian Cocoa Board attending the meeting was Ms. Tan Ester Liana.

 

The ACC meeting is a forum for cooperation of ASEAN member countries in an effort to increase productivity, quality and diversification of chocolate products so that ASEAN can become one of the quality and sustainable chocolate producers and be able to compete at the global level.

 

The 21st ACC meeting began with meetings at the technical level, namely the Technical Working Group on Good Agricultural Practices (TWGGAP) and the Technical Working Group on Food Safety (TWG FS) on April 24th, 2018 followed by the ACC plenary on April 25-26th and closed with a visit to a chocolate company that has a production chain from upstream (Cocoa farms) to downstream (Chocolate products).

 

The ACC successfully agreed on the final draft of ASEAN Good Agricultural Practices for Cacao Production (ASEAN GAP) which will then be submitted to the Joint Committee on ASEAN Cooperation and Joint Approaches in Agriculture and Forest Products Promotion Scheme (ASEAN JC AFPPS) for endorsement. Another thing that was also done in this forum was the exchange of information related to promotional activities, research and projects that have been and will be continued / carried out in 2018.
